On March 18, 2007 the VI Ancestry Discovery Group hosted “VI Family Tree & History Exhibit,” at the St. Croix Educational Complex cafeteria. Over fifty families exhibited an interpretation of their family tree. It was a phenomenal experience. There was much buzz (some in dialect) as to, “Who belang to who,” “Yoh know wha yoh come from?” And, "These ah yoh people them." Many people spoke about their researching techniques from the oral history to Google on the internet. It was a great venue to “find long lost relatives.” Veronica Phillip’s dream had come to fruition and she should be commended for having the patience and perseverance to include the community on her long venture. I hope that the photographs convey the energy that was felt on that blessed day. D. Bennerson, Photographer |
