What to Wear for your Photography Session

What to Wear

What to Wear

Denise Bennerson, Photographer

Your Attire will make a difference in how you feel!

We live in a beautiful place in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. In addition, we love to photograph unforgettable portraits and it starts with wearing the right clothes for your photography session. The clothes you choose have a major impact on your ageless photographs. The following guidelines will help you decide on the appropriate clothes for your photography session.

Wear casual or formal clothing that are appropriate for your type of photography  session.  Your clothes  should also demonstrate your family’s personality. Earthy tones work best. They complement most skin tones. All the attention should be on you. Your clothes should be simple and not to many details. Solid colors look best and you can use different hues or tones of the same color. If you want a more relaxed look jeans are alright, but everyone should wear jeans for a coordinated look. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful and gorgeous, or handsome if you are a man.

Short sleeves, long slacks or long/knee length skirts are better than sleeveless shirts or blouses, short skirts or shorts. You should wear appropriate socks and shoes. Dress for full-length photographs. Men or boys white undershirts should not peek out of their shirt at the neck, unless that is a style. See one of our beautiful families Videos

Glasses should not be worn during the photo session. You will see glare or distortion.

Jewelry should be simple and appropriate. Try not to wear large earrings.  Large earrings sometimes cast shadows and have to be constantly fixed during the session. Large bangles sometimes take away from attire you are wearing. Keep watches also simple.

Hair should be cut or relaxed (if that is what you do) at least one to two weeks before your session. If hair is just relaxed it usually look flat and lifeless.

Men be careful of stray hairs in your face. Your moustache or beard should be trimmed. When ready meet with us, your photographer, and let’s have some fun!!!
