Only You Can Prevent Over Charges at the Cash Register
When you checkout goods at the counter – keep your eye on the register. You may be overcharged on some items. For example, recently I went food shopping and it included dog food. At Kmart, I picked 34 lbs of dog food for $28.99 (the selections were slim.) When I went to the counter it was scanned at $44.00 (I also had two other smaller priced items.) I looked at the register, “$44.00 for what?” She said, “The dog food.” She called the manager. The manager went to the dog food area (it took a while) and returned to the counter. The manager verified it was $28.99. And put in her special code to change the price. This price difference of $15.01 was noticeably more. I have had this happen in other stores on St. Croix, US Virgin Islands (for example, Cost U Less and gas stations.) Just be careful as you shop this season or any time. It may be a simple mistake on the part of the store, but it can be more costly to you.
By the way, I am sure this happens any place in the world, but I want to share my experience with you. During the above event I found it strange that the manager told the cashier, “Don’t tell anybody.” It made me think, “Is this a plan to rate items higher, and they hope you will pay for the item at the higher price?” Hmm… Have you had this experience? What do you think?
