Maria Feck Photographer from Germany visits St. Croix, Virgin Islands
Maria Feck, photographer is an Artist in Residence at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts in Frederiksted, St. Croix US Virgin Islands. Maria is a photographer from Hamburg, Germany and working on her photography doctoral degree. She hosted a Professional Photographer’s reception on Sunday, May 12, 2012 at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts. Photographers viewed her exhibit and listened while she spoke about her work, photographers who influenced her photography and technical information for developing a collection or exhibit. She also expressed that she enjoys photojournalism. 
Photographers and other attendees enjoyed the exchange of information. Maria will be visiting various schools to speak and photographing members of the community for her collection of “St. Croix-Diversity in America’s Paradise” Portraits of Crucian People and Culture. She will be in residence from February 11 to February 20, 2012. We hope she enjoys her stay in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

Maria, my niece, had a wonderful time on St. Croix and both of us very much appreciate the hospitality extended by everyone she met; as a result, she probably got to see and experience more than I did during my two-year stay on the island right after hurricane Hugo. Many thanks to Candia, Denise, David and everyone else for offering her this unique professional experience, for sharing your talents with her and for providing her with the opportunitites to take photographs that I am confident will reflect the warmth, beauty and diversity of St. Croix and its residents.
