Sunset Jazz was a party with Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights.
Sunset Jazz is held in Frederiksted, St. Croix US Virgin Islands. On Friday, December 16, 2011 Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights performed to a captive audience. Initially, it was dark when we arrived at Buddhoe Park including the band stand. However, the music was still blasting while the crowd partied at the band stand. It was as if the whole park was swaying to the sounds of Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights. Eventually the lights came on.
Sunset Jazz is a free event; however food and drinks are on sale to support it. You are encouraged to leave your coolers and eats at home. Last night they sold chicken and Johnny Cakes and they were flying off the table. The crowd was a mixture of snow birds and locals. We spoke to some of the snowbirds and they mentioned that they were glad to be in St. Croix, away from the freezing cold weather. One of them mentioned that he could not wait for he and his wife to retire and to live in St. Croix, VI. It was also nice to see and talk to some old friends we had not seen in a while.
At the end Ms. Melanie Rames, President of FEDA (Frederiksted Economic Development Association) thanked everyone for coming. We must say it was a grand affair against the backdrop of the historic Fort Frederik.
Just a reminder, Sunset Jazz is held in Frederiksted, St. Croix VI every third Friday of the month. It is next to the Ann E. Abramson Pier and Eliza Mcbean Clock Tower which makes the time spent in Frederiksted a wonderful place to walk around. It starts at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.
